Gmail

The Connections Tab allows you to integrate and configure email-sending services within SureMail. This document outlines the configuration options available for the Gmail Connection.

How to Add a Gmail Connection?

Gmail is an email-sending service that enables reliable email delivery from your WordPress site. To establish a connection go to the Connections tab, and follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Add Connection button.
  2. A sidebar menu will slide in from the right.
  3. Select Gmail to open another sliding sidebar with the Gmail connection fields.

Configure the GmailConnection Fields

1. Connection Title

  • Enter a unique title for this connection.

2. Client ID

  • A Client ID is a unique identifier issued by Google when you create an OAuth application in the Google Cloud Console. It helps Google recognize which application is requesting access to user data.
Where to find the Client ID?

Log in to your console.cloud.google

  • Create New Project 
  • Select Project
  • Click the hamburger menu to open the sidebar menu, which will slide in from the left. Then, click APIs & Services.
  • Enable APIs Service and search for Gmail API.
  • Click Enable 
  • Click the Create credentials button.
  • Then, set the Credential Type by selecting “Gmail API” from the dropdown menu. Next, choose “User Data” and click “Next.”
  • Then, set up the OAuth Consent Screen by entering the App name, selecting the user support email, uploading the App logo, and providing the Developer contact information (i.e., email address). Finally, click Save and Continue.
  • Scopes are optional, so you can save and continue.
  • Then, set the OAuth Client ID here by selecting “Web Application” from the dropdown.
  • Then Authorized redirect URIs you can copy the URL from the SureMail 
  • Paste the URL and click on Create.
  • Now, copy the Client ID, paste it into the SureMail Gmail connection, and click the “Done” button.

3. Client Secret 

  • A Client Secret is a confidential key issued alongside the Client ID. It acts as a password that allows your application to authenticate itself with Google’s OAuth servers. This must be kept secure and not exposed publicly.

Where to find the Client Secret?

  • Navigate to the Credentials page by clicking on Credentials from the left-side menu bar.
  • Click on the pencil icon to edit OAuth client. This will redirect you to the Web Application page, where you can copy the Client Secret and paste it into SureMail.

4. Redirect URI 

  • It must be pre-configured in the Google Cloud Console and should match exactly during the OAuth request.

After adding the Client ID and Client Secret, click the “Authenticate with Google” button.

5. From Email

Specify the From Email address that should be used when sending emails from your WordPress site.

  • The From Email specified in the Elastic Email connection will take precedence when the Force From Email option is enabled.
  • If not enabled, other plugins or settings may override the From Email.

6. From Name

Specify the From Name that should be used for all outgoing emails.

  • This is the name that recipients will see in their inbox when receiving emails from your site.
  • You can use a combination of your name and company name as from name.

7. Connection Sequence for From Email

  • Default Value: 10
  • Determines the Sequence of this connection.
  • Lower numbers indicate higher priority. If multiple connections are available for a given From Email, then the connection with the lowest sequence number will be used first.

By configuring the Gmail connection properly, you ensure reliable email delivery from your WordPress site with the correct sender details.
