Amazon SES

The Connections Tab allows you to configure and manage your email connection settings for Amazon SES. This ensures seamless email delivery using your AWS account. Below is a detailed guide to configuring the Amazon SES connection.

How to Add an Amazon SES Connection?

Amazon SES is an email-sending service that provides reliable email delivery for your WordPress site. To establish a connection go to the Connections tab, and follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Add Connection button.
  2. A sidebar menu will slide in from the right.
  3. Select Amazon SES to open another sliding sidebar with the Amazon SES connection fields.

Configure the Amazon SES Connection Fields

1. Connection Title

  • Enter a unique title for this connection.

2. API Key

To connect your Amazon SES account, you need to enter an API Key. This key allows SureMail to authenticate and send emails through  Amazon SES  securely.

How to get Keys from Amazon SES?

To get the Access Key, and Secret Key you need to create an Amazon AWS account.

Once you are logged in you will be redirected to the AWS Console Home. Then you need to search for “IAM” in the top search bar and click the IAM result. You will be taken to the Identity and Access Management (IAM) page. Here, click the Create user button.

Create new IAM user.

Then you will be redirected to the New IAM User Creation overview page. Firstly, you will need to provide a User Name, the supported format is also instructed under the field.

Once you are done with the User Name click on the Next Button to proceed to the next step.

Set Permissions

In this step, we need to define the Policies and Permissions required for SureMail to send emails through the new user account we are going to create.

First of all, Select Attach Policies Directly from the Permission Options.

Now select AmazonSESFullAccess and AmazonSNSFullAccess Policies. Now check both of them as shown in the below screenshot. Click the Next button and then click the Create User button on the next screen.

Once the user is created, you can click on either View User from the top success message or from the Users lists click on the newly created User Name. Then you will be redirected to the User Overview page.

Identify AWS Console Region

From the Console Dashboard, on the top right corner between the User Name and the Setting icon, you will find the Region you have used to create the IAM User to be used for SureMail.

Create Access Key and Secret Key

To create the Access Key and Secret Key, click on the Create Access Key button on the User Overview page.

Then you will be redirected to the Access Key best practice & alternative page. Here select the Other option and click on the Next button.

If you want to set any Description Tag then you can add it here. Otherwise, you can skip it and click on the Create Access Key button as the Description Tag is optional.

You will now receive a confirmation of the successful creation of the Access Key and Secret Key. Make sure to copy them for future use.

3. Secret Key

  • Enter your AWS secret key here.
  • Paired with the access key, this key secures your connection to AWS.

4. Region

  • Select the region where your Amazon SES service is hosted.
  • Example: US East (Virginia) – us-east-1

5. From Email

  • Specify the From Email address that should be used when sending emails from your WordPress site.
  • The From Email specified in the Amazon SES connection will take precedence when the Force From Email option is enabled.
  • If not enabled, other plugins or settings may override the From Email.

6. From Name

  • Enter the name that should appear as the sender of the email.

7. Connection Sequence for From Email

  • Default Value: 10
  • Determines the Sequence of this connection.
  • Lower numbers indicate higher priority. If multiple connections are available for a given From Email, then the connection with the lowest sequence number will be used first.

By configuring the Amazon SES connection properly, you ensure reliable email delivery from your WordPress site with the correct sender details.
