How to Set Up Multiple Backup Connections for Each “From Email” in SureMail
Setting up multiple backup connections for each “From Email” in SureMail ensures reliable email delivery, when your primary connection encounters issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide to configuring this feature.
Benefits of Multiple Backup Connections
- Increased Reliability: Ensures uninterrupted email delivery.
- Flexibility: Allows you to switch between providers without manual intervention.
Prerequisites
- SureMail Plugin Installed and Activated: Ensure the SureMail plugin is installed and activated on your WordPress website.
- SMTP Details for Backup Connections: Gather the necessary SMTP details for each backup email service provider.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Access SureMail Settings
- Navigate to your WordPress dashboard.
- Go to Settings > SureMail.
2. Add a Primary Connection
- Under the Connections tab, click Add New Connection.
- Fill in the connection details of your primary email service provider.
- Optionally, set a value in the Connection Sequence field.
- This field sets the sequence in which the connection will be used to send the emails.
- Test and Save the connection.
3. Set Up Backup Connections
- Under the Connections tab, again click Add New Connection to create the first backup connection.
- Fill in the connection details of your backup email service provider. Make sure to use the same From Email for this connection that you set in the primary connection.
- Set the value in the Connection Sequence field to any value greater than the one you set in the primary connection.
- Test and Save the connection.
- Repeat the above steps to create as many back connections as you want. Just make sure to set the value of Connection Sequence field in the order in which you want the connections to be used for sending the emails.
How Connection Sequences Work?
- Each connection is assigned a Connection Sequence number.
- SureMail tries to send emails through the connection with the lowest sequence number first.
- If the first connection fails, the connection with the next sequence number is attempted. If that fails too, the connection with the next sequence number is attempted, and so on.
- If all configured connections fail, SureMail waits for 30 minutes and tries to send the emails through all the connections again in the same order.
- Note that all connections must use the same “From Email” address for this process to function correctly.
Example Scenario
Consider the following setup:
- Primary Connection: Sequence 10
- Backup Connection 1: Sequence 30
- Backup Connection 2: Sequence 20
Execution Process:
- The system first tries the Primary Connection (Sequence 10).
- If it fails, the system tries Backup Connection 2 (Sequence 20).
- If Backup Connection 2 also fails, the system then tries Backup Connection 1 (Sequence 30).
- If all connections fail, SureMail waits for 30 minutes and tries to send the emails through all the connections again in the same order.
Important Notes
- All connections must use the same “From Email” address for this sequence mechanism to work.
- Lower sequence numbers indicate higher priority in execution order.
Monitor and Optimize
- Regularly check the Logs section in SureMail to monitor which connection was used for email delivery.
- Adjust sequence or update credentials as needed.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Authentication Errors: Double-check the username and password for each connection.
- Failed Email Deliveries: Check the logs to identify which connection failed and why.
By setting up multiple backup connections for each “From Email” in SureMail, you can ensure a seamless and robust email delivery experience for your WordPress site.
